Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CVMR), a.k.a. Heart MRI or Cardiac MRI, is offered at Metro. More than 60 million people living in the United States today have some form of heart disease. A very important goal in modern medicine is the development and improvement of non-invasive diagnostic tools that reveal important information about heart conditions and related disorders early in the disease process.

Applications for CVMR:

  • Acquired Cardiac Diseases
  • CHF and Late-Stage Heart Disease
  • Congenital Heart Disease
  • Valvular Heart Disease
  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
  • Cardiac Tumors
  • Peripheral Vascular Disease

Indications for CVMR:

  • Cardiac Anatomy
  • Cardiac Function
  • Cardiac Viability

CVMR may reveal disorders including:

  • Heart valve disorders
  • Pericardial effusion
  • Tumor invasion of blood vessels of pericardium
  • Left atrial myxoma
  • Congenital heart abnormalities (such as pulmonary atresia)
  • Fibrosis or scarring of the heart muscle
  • Myocardial Infarction
  • Right ventricular dysplasia

Analysis Benefits:

  • End-diastolic and end-systolic volume
  • Ejection fraction, stroke volume, & cardiac output
  • Cardiac Mass
  • Ejection & filling rates
  • Regional wall thickening calculations
  • Right ventricular dysplasia

What is Cardiovascular MRI?

Since the development of a new form of high-speed MRI, images of the heart can be captured in real time. These images facilitate a comprehensive evaluation of cardiac health. We now have the ability to display the function, the structure, and the blood flow of the heart. Cardiovascular MRI can identify damage from a heart attack, diagnose certain congenital cardiovascular defects, and evaluate disease of the cardiac blood vessels.

CVMR uses no ionizing radiation (x-ray) or invasive interventional procedures, and it also displays a sufficiently high-quality image of the affected vascular region.

Cardiovascular MRI at Metro MRI Center

Metro MRI provides cardiovascular imaging at Iowa location. Our equipment, utilizes strong gradient coils on a 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, specialized phased-array radiofrequency coils, and the most sophisticated cardiovascular imaging software. Our center's staff, extensively trained in this highly specialized field, helps to build our reputation for quality imaging and accurate results.

As the leading MR facility in the Quad City area devoted to cardiovascular MRI, we are able to provide patients and referring physicians with high-quality services to meet their imaging needs. Thanks to Metro's commitment to excellence, we are able to offer the latest techniques for using MRI.

Clearly focused on you.
